Boston Cream Pie

So now that I’m back in Boston I’m thinking about all the foods that Boston is known for.  You know, baked beans, sea food and what I want to talk about is the Boston Cream Pie.  I had one before but not from the Omni Parker House (Hotel) which is down the street that I’m told it originated (I heard it on Chefs vs. City, which I loved) in 1856.

If you’ve ever seen a Boston Cream Pie, it does not look like a pie.  It looks like a cake.  Also explained to me via Chefs vs. City it is because it was baked in a cake pan not a pie tin.

To try the original Boston Cream Pie you can go to the Omni Parker House.  Or if you go to their website (http://www.omnihotels.com/findahotel/bostonparkerhouse/dining.aspx) you can download their recipe and try to make it yourself!  I think I’d love to try a piece first.

About akindafoodblog

I'm a picky foodie in training. I can't stop talking about food, so writing about it seems like a normal transition. There are so many foods I don't like, and that's a bit of a problem. I don't really know how to cook but I love to bake. So I'm on a culinary journey and I want to invite everyone to join me.
